Birdman's Marinara Sauce by Birdman

Wonderful blend of vegetables and tomato sauce that can be used on any Italian dish. Use the sauce on spaghetti, in lasagna, or any other kind of Italian dish.

Birdman's Marinara Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 5 tomatoes, chopped
  • 12 mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 carrots, shredded
  • 2 small zucchini, sliced
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • ¼ cup red cooking wine
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried sage
  • 2 bay leaves

  1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat; saute onion and garlic until onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, mushrooms, bell pepper, celery, carrots, zucchini, tomato paste, cooking wine, soy sauce, and black pepper; simmer for 2 hours.
  2. Stir basil, oregano, sage, and bay leaves into sauce and simmer until flavors blend, 1 to 2 hours. Remove bay leaves.
